Product Overview
The Edna (also known as the Lorna) Towel Clamp is a specialized, non-penetrating instrument. Its hallmark feature is the wide, flat, and cross-serrated jaws. While a Backhaus clamp uses sharp points to pierce through drapes, the Edna uses a powerful “crush-grip” to hold materials in place. This makes it the safer choice for securing surgical accessories to the drape or for clamping drapes together over sensitive areas where skin perforation must be avoided.
Key Features
-
“Beast-Grip” Non-Perforating Jaws: The jaws are broad and feature deep transverse serrations. This design provides maximum surface area contact, ensuring drapes and cords stay locked in place via friction rather than piercing.
-
Fabric-Safe Engineering: Specifically designed to protect expensive reusable linens and delicate disposable drapes from tears and holes, extending the life of your surgical textiles.
-
Accessory Management: The ideal tool for “line management” on the sterile field—safely securing suction tubing, ESU (Bovie) cords, and fiber-optic cables to the surgical drape without restricting flow or damaging the insulation.
-
Multi-Step Ratchet Lock: Equipped with a high-tensile ratchet that provides a definitive, secure lock. The graduated tension allows you to adjust the grip strength based on the thickness of the material being clamped.
-
Offset Shank Design: Often features slightly offset shanks to allow the clamp to lie flat against the patient, minimizing the risk of the instrument getting caught on the surgeon’s gown or gloves.
