Product Overview
The Holscher is a specialized hand-held retractor designed specifically for spinal microsurgery. It features a bayoneted (offset) handle and a smooth, curved blade. The bayonet design is critical: it keeps the surgeon’s hand and the handle of the instrument out of the direct line of sight, allowing for an unobstructed view through a surgical microscope or loupes while maintaining steady retraction of the nerve root.
Key Features
-
“Beast-Shield” Atraumatic Blade: The blade is meticulously polished to a mirror finish with rounded, blunt edges. This ensures that the nerve root can be gently displaced and held without the risk of abrasion or “tethering” trauma.
-
Bayoneted Handle Geometry: The offset handle design is optimized for deep-channel surgery (like microdiscectomies). It allows the assistant or surgeon to hold the nerve root aside without their hand blocking the light source or the overhead view.
-
Deep-Corridor Reach: Available in various shaft lengths and blade widths to accommodate different spinal levels and patient anatomies, from the cervical to the lumbosacral spine.
-
High-Tactile Feedback: Forged to be lightweight and perfectly balanced, providing the surgeon with immediate sensory feedback regarding the tension being applied to the neural structures.
-
Anti-Glare Satin Finish: The shaft and handle are treated with a professional satin finish to eliminate distracting reflections from high-intensity surgical LEDs.
