Product Overview
Non-perforating towel clamps (often referred to as Bernhard or Lorna clamps) are specialized hemostatic-style clamps designed to secure surgical drapes, suction lines, and cautery cables. Unlike traditional “towel clips” with sharp points that pierce through material, these feature broad, blunted jaws that use high-compression friction to hold items in place. This makes them the “gold standard” for use with modern disposable paper or synthetic drapes, as they prevent “strike-through” contamination.
Key Features
-
“Beast-Hold” Atraumatic Jaws: The jaws are designed with a wide, flattened surface area and cross-serrated teeth. This provides a massive “grip-force” that locks onto fabric or plastic tubing without puncturing, tearing, or crushing.
-
Contamination Protection: Because these clamps do not perforate the surgical drape, they maintain a true sterile barrier. This is essential in high-risk procedures where any breach in the drape could lead to a surgical site infection (SSI).
-
Tubing & Cable Security: The jaw geometry is perfectly suited for “routing” suction hoses, bovie cords, and fiber-optic cables. They hold equipment firmly to the drape, preventing it from sliding off the sterile field during the procedure.
-
Multi-Step Precision Ratchet: Features a robust locking mechanism that allows the surgeon or scrub nurse to apply calibrated pressure. The ratchet is designed to stay locked under the weight of heavy surgical cords.
-
Finger-Ring Ergonomics: Designed with comfortable, wide finger rings for easy application and removal, even with double-layered surgical gloves.
