The Poole Suction Tube is a specialized, two-piece instrument designed specifically for “sump” suctioning. It consists of a slender inner cannula and a broader, perforated outer sheath. Unlike standard suction tips (like the Yankauer), the Poole is designed to work safely in the presence of bowel loops and omentum. The multiple small holes on the outer sheath distribute the suction force, preventing the instrument from “sucking in” and damaging delicate viscera.
