RICHARDSON-EASTMAN RETRACTOR

Product Overview

The Richardson-Eastman Retractor is a handheld, double-ended instrument characterized by two L-shaped, concave blades of different sizes connected by a central handle. The unique “Eastman” modification adds a second, larger blade to the traditional Richardson profile. This allows the surgical team to use the smaller end for initial skin and subcutaneous retraction and then flip the instrument to use the larger, deeper blade for retracting the abdominal wall or heavy muscle groups.

Key Features

  • “Beast-Dual” Blade Utility: Features a small and a large blade on opposite ends. This “two-in-one” design saves time and space on the surgical tray, allowing for seamless transitions as the surgical site deepens.

  • Deep-Grip Crescent Lips: Both blades feature a signature crescent-shaped distal lip. This “hook” design ensures the retractor stays firmly anchored under the fascia or abdominal wall, preventing slips under high tension.

  • Contoured Ergonomic Handle: The central handle section is designed with an anatomical curve that fits securely in the assistant’s palm. This provides the leverage needed for the forceful, steady retraction required in major open cases.

  • Atraumatic Beveled Edges: Despite its massive holding power, every blade edge is meticulously beveled and polished. This prevents the “edge-trauma” and localized bruising that can occur with sharper, flat-bladed retractors.

  • High-Tensile Surgical Steel: Forged from premium stainless steel to ensure zero flex. The instrument remains rigid even when holding back the heavy muscle layers of the thigh or the thick abdominal wall of a bariatric patient.
