Product Overview
The Roux Retractor is a handheld, double-ended instrument characterized by its C-shaped or “S-shaped” body with two solid, curved blades of different sizes. Unlike the Richardson, which has a distinct handle, the Roux uses its own body as the grip. It is exceptionally popular for retracting skin, fat, and muscle in procedures where space is tight and a bulky handle would obstruct the surgeon’s view.
Key Features
-
“Beast-Dual” Blade Efficiency: Features a small blade on one end and a larger blade on the other. This allows the surgical team to use the small end for superficial retraction (skin/fat) and the larger end for deeper structures (muscle/fascia) without changing instruments.
-
Deeply Curved “Hook” Lips: The blades are forged with a significant curve, allowing them to “hook” securely around tissue margins. This prevents the retractor from slipping out under tension, even when working with slippery subcutaneous fat.
-
Ergonomic Body-Grip: The central portion of the instrument is wide and slightly contoured to fit the assistant’s palm. This allows for comfortable, multi-finger traction, which is vital for maintaining steady exposure during long cases.
-
Atraumatic Rounded Edges: Every edge is meticulously hand-polished. This ensures that the retractor can hold back delicate tissues for extended periods without causing the “edge-pressure” necrosis or bruising associated with sharper instruments.
-
High-Tensile Surgical Steel: Forged from premium stainless steel to ensure zero flex. The instrument remains perfectly rigid, providing a consistent and unyielding operative window.
