The Rumel Tourniquet Guide is a specialized, slender cannula designed to act as a “sheath” for umbilical tape or heavy vascular ligatures. Often used in conjunction with a rubber “snare” or tubing, it allows the surgeon to loop a vessel and cinch it down securely against the guide’s tip. This creates a temporary, reversible occlusion of the vessel (such as the aorta or vena cava), providing a bloodless field without the crushing force of a traditional vascular clamp.
